Making Plastics With Renewables
Dow is reducing reliance on fossil fuels by introducing sustainably sourced bio-based feedstock and feedstock made from plastic waste into our production. This mix of renewable and non-renewable sources is measured via the mass balance approach, removing the need for a dedicated production line just for sustainably sourced materials – thus enabling easier adoption of sustainable industry practices for reduced carbon footprint.
Carbon Footprint Ledger
Low-carbon product footprints are calculated using the CFL methodology, which is based on current Product Carbon Footprint standards, such as ISO14067 and the GHG Protocol Product Standard, and industry guidelines. Our CFL methodology also leverages principles of chain-of-custody mechanisms, such as renewable energy credits, sustainable aviation fuel certificates, and mass-balancing for bio/recycled content.
